The winter and early spring have been very wet and windy - a common occurrence here in South Gippsland!   Flower buds are developing on the trees and flowing is just weeks away - a very exciting time indeed. 

Following a successful harvest and pressing from May through to mid July our extra virgin olive oil from 4 varieties is continuing to be bottled and ready for sale.

Light pruning is continuing as a follow up to heavy pruning to manage the height and health of the trees.

Grass mowing has been a regular activity with the spring rains encouraging growth.  

The varietals available from this year’s harvest are: 

• Frantoio - This Tuscan style oil has a distinct olive aroma with hints of grass. Its sweetness is complimented with  fruity, green banana tones, low bitterness and a lasting finish. Mild style oil.

• Arbequina - Our Spanish variety. Much like the Arbequina/Picual blend, this oil has a confectionary aroma with avocado on the palate with low bitterness. Mild style oil.

• Coratina - This Southern Italian style oil has a dried herbs aroma. Its grassy flavour is complimented by moderate bitterness and a medium spicy, peppery finish that lingers. Medium style oil.

• Koroneiki - This variety originates from Crete and has a characteristic grassy aroma and taste that is vibrant, with hints of  green apple, complimented by  moderate pepper that lingers. Medium style oil.

• Premium Blend - This year we are also offering a Premium Blend which is a fusion from our Tuscan, Southern Italian and Greek olive varieties.  It is a medium style oil with grassy and fresh herb aromas, a flavour infused with fruity green banana tones.  It has a buttery mouthfeel complimented by a medium peppery finish.
